Implementation Period: January 2009 – January 2010

Location: Russia, the city of Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk krai (region)

Partners:

  • Community learning organization ContinYou (Great Britain)
  • Social-Educational Association “Educator” (Poland)

Overall objective:

To introduce Community Learning Centers Programme into schools in Krasnoyarsk region.

Specific objectives

1. To raise awareness of school teams on project designing and implementation through community-based learning

2. To assist schools in establishing and functioning of Community Learning Centers

3. Raise students’ involvement in school and community life

4. To provide information support

 

Target groups: students of higher secondary school grades, teachers/school administrations

Project Activities:

  • Working meetings of partners to develop methodical manuals and training programmes (February, April 2009)
  • Selection of experimental schools and signing partnerships agreements with education departments (May 2009)
  • Inception workshops for school programme coordinators (June 2009, February 2010)
  • Training sessions for school teams (September 2009, December 2009)
  • Inter-training tasks: “Community Mapping”, “We and Community”, “We and Community: Doing Together”
  • Study visit for 5 schools to a youth center within Siberian regions.
  • Best Center Competition
  • Youth Festival
  • Methodical manuals and a brochure
  • Methodical and consultation support

Planned results:

Students acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Coordinators trained to supervise the programme at schools.

Consultation support for experimental schools organized.

Coordinators improved managerial skills to manage Centers.

Conditions provided to exchange experience and network interaction.

Students acquired first-hand experience on project designing and solving socially significant problems.

Interested partners involved into operation of the Center.

Raised information awareness (school and community) on project implementation and results.
